Healthy food should leave the planet healthy too
Of major importance when making food choices are the ethical
issues around food acquisition, production, and retailing.
Food production should have as little negative impact as possible
on both the environment and the people involved in producing
the food. To this end, Good Food and Health upholds the consumption
of:
- Fair Trade
- local and in-season produce
- minimal use of pesticides and artificial fertilisers
- free range farmed meat and dairy products
- sustainable fish stocks, which are caught in a manner
that causes least harm to other marine life or the
marine environment
- farmed fish and seafood, only where the farming
does minimal damage to the environment or local
population
See 'Links' for organisations
which support sustainable food production.
